The Puppy Bowl Alternative

On Sunday night, millions of people will tuning into the 42nd Super Bowl to watch the Patriots demolish the Giants (That’s for my friend, Patti, who is a huge Patriots fan). There are those of us who aren’t into sports that go to parties (to meet cute guys) or watch the Super Bowl–just for the commercials. But, hey, you can watch ’em online the next day and still know what commercials everyone’s laughing about. And if another Janet Jackson boob popping incident happens, it’ll be replayed over and over again on every media outlet all over the country, so you won’t miss a thing.

Now animal lovers have found something they get psyched about on Super Bowl Sunday. They can curl up with their furry friends and watch the fourth annual Puppy Bowl on Animal Planet. It’s three hours full of puppy mayhem as the shelter pups pounce, play, pee, poop, and drink from a water bowl (that has a camera in it). The best news is–it’s from 3-6 PM, so die-hard football fans can tune in as well.

But don’t think our feline friends have been left out of the fray. They’re the Kitty Half-Time Show (which is way cooler than Paula Abdul, who’s doing the Super Bowl Half-Time Show–she did dance with a cartoon cat in her music video for “Opposites Attract”).

Maybe I’ll watch the Super Bowl, but probably not, but my dogs and I will definitely be tuning in to The Puppy Bowl. Below is the exciting intro from last year’s Puppy Bowl.
