My guy lost

OK, I’m back from Florida, and wanted to quickly comment on the election since I had to dig through a slew of mean comments, I-told-you-so’s, and other nonsensical things. Obviously, my guy (McCain for those of you who are first-timers here) didn’t win.  But I don’t see Obama’s win as an “in-your-face” victory at all. Continue reading “My guy lost”

Stumping Around

This is a tree stump. By nature, it is “stumping” but it has no political affiliation. My friend just asked me how I felt about Donald Miller’s trip to Pennsylvania to stump for Obama.  I was tempted to say, “Who’s Donald Miller?”  Of course, the answer would be–the guy who wrote Blue Like Jazz.  SoContinue reading “Stumping Around”

Stuffing McCain Across the Great Political Divide

Now that I’ve decided to support the McCain/Palin ticket, I’ve decided to make it official by slapping a “McCain 08” bumper sticker on my vehicle.  Plus, I spent two hours volunteering at my local McCain HQ.  I stuffed plastic bags with literature that will be distributed by a team going door-to-door.  My task felt aContinue reading “Stuffing McCain Across the Great Political Divide”

Faith Beyond Politics

Maybe I’m not a horrible Christian after all. According to the Barna Group, born-again Christians are less likely to vote for Republican candidates. The group says that if the election were held today, more Christians would vote for the Democratic Party Presidential nominee, even if it was Hillary Clinton!!! (Read study here and thanks toContinue reading “Faith Beyond Politics”

Super Tuesday: All the Hype Money Can Buy

UPDATE: I found this little diddy by Brandon Barker about John Mellencamp telling John McCain to stop using his songs at campaign rallies.  Watch the David Hassellfhoff video, “Looking For Freedom”.  This is a hilarious post! Isn’t Super Tuesday exciting? This morning on Fox News I got to see Barack Obama, Ann Coulter, Nancy Pelosi,Continue reading “Super Tuesday: All the Hype Money Can Buy”

The “Christian” Way to Vote

According to Florida pastor Brian Longworth (who I had never heard of until I read this article), if Christians show up to the polls and “vote their values” Mike Huckabee can win the Republican Party’s nomination. Here’s a direct quote from the piece, “Christians make up the largest voting block in America, and when theyContinue reading “The “Christian” Way to Vote”

Pretend You Matter & Bilary’s A’Coming

AHHH! It’s Bilary! The Morning Call, the area’s local newspaper, is running a straw poll cleverly called “Pretend You Matter!” It’s funny because it’s true. As much as young people are urged to “rock the vote”, if young Pennsylvanians head out to vote in the state presidential primary on April 22, it probably won’t makeContinue reading “Pretend You Matter & Bilary’s A’Coming”
