Listen to Ben Gibbard’s fantastic new song, “When the Sun Goes Down”

Do you love Ben Gibbard as much as I do?  A handful of you do, and the rest of you are wondering who I’m talking about.  Ben Gibbard is the lead singer of Death Cab For Cutie (one of my favorite bands) as well as the husband of fabulous actress Zooey Deschanel (I could spend a whole blog post just talking about her.)

Because I love Ben Gibbard I’m going to give you a sneak peek of his new song “When the Sun Goes Down”, from Arthur: The Original Motion Picture Soundtrack (WaterTower Music).  Gibbard also penned another song for the Russell Brand flick called “Where Our Destination lies.”   Listen, smile, and drink in all the Ben Gibbard goodness…

Also included on the soundtrack is a remake of Christopher Cross’s classic “Arthur’s Theme (Best That You Can Do)” by Fitz and the Tantrums.  The full soundtrack is available today, April 5, on all major detail retailers (and maybe a few other places.)  I’ll see if I can get a review copy and give you the full scoop on this album.

Is anyone else freaked out by Russell Brand’s cheeky expression in this album cover? While I don’t have high hopes for this remake, the original motion soundtrack looks to be excellent. Let’s see what Fitz and the Tantrums do with this song…

  1. No Death Cab. 😦 But I think the video of the original “Arthur’s Theme” totally makes up for it…sort of. 🙂 I do have a review copy of the entire album now…so review forthcoming!

  2. From the original song: Has anyone ever figured out what “caught between the moon and New York City” mean? Other than @bronxzooscobra…

  3. Just saw the movie and it was a pleasant remake…not over done, well acted and true to the story. And the soundtrack was even better.

  4. Seriously love the soundtrack for the newest remake of ARTHUR, but I haven’t seen it yet because I really don’t like Russell Brand. I was disappointed with the cover of “Arthur’s Theme” though. I’ve heard better. Overall, the soundtrack is great.
