UPDATE: I DID NOT WIN THIS CONTEST OR EVEN PLACE IN THE TOP 10. IT’S NOT MEANT TO BE AND THAT’S OK.
I thought I had all the time in the world, but really I have about 55 minutes. See, I learned about the She Speaks Scholarship Contest on Saturday afternoon, and apparently the entry is due TONIGHT at midnight! Ack! To enter the contest, I must simply write a six word story. A whole story in six words? Are you kidding me? No, friends, this is no joke. Hemingway did it, and by golly, I’m going to do it, too! (But I’m definitely *not* Hemingway. I need to win a scholarship to the She Speaks Conference so I can learn to write like Hemingway, or you know, like me. Actually, I just need it so I can attend.)
So here it is, my six word story:
She reaches. One touch. Wholly Healed.
This story has a double meaning. On one hand I’m telling the story of the bleeding woman who knew she could be healed, if only she could touch even the hem of Jesus’ garment. But this is almost my story of reaching towards God and with one touch I am wholly healed–not from this life’s infirmities, but at least my soul is healed. One day I will be wholly healed.
Thanks for reading and cheering me on!
best six word story written. loved it!!
Sidney, Jen, and Melissa, thank you so much! I’ll let y’all know how it goes. They pick a winner tomorrow.
Hemingway’s story was: “For Sale. Baby Shoes. Never Worn.” So powerful.
My other six-word story is: “First glance. Wedding dance. Lifelong Romance.” I wasn’t sure which one to enter, but I though the other one was more powerful. But this one rhymed. I don’t know.
Good luck!
Oh, that’s lovely! And yes, you can pack a story into six words. Good luck to you! 🙂
Wow, I loved that. It’s amazing how much can be packed into six words.
I think the concept of a six word story is cool. 🙂
