‘Tis the Season To Be Gotee is an excellent mix of Christmas songs from beloved Gotee artists like Relient K, House of Heroes, Stephanie Smith, and the rest of the Gotee gang. Having been a long time favorite of mine, I could probably enjoy listening to Relient K sing the alphabet, but their renditions of “Silver Bells” and “God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen” are simply stunning in its delivery while“O Holy Night” is a bit underwhelming. Also, notably is Stephanie Smith’s delivery of Relient K’s “I Celebrate the Day,” which the artist has made distinctively her own. Her version of “Jingle Bell Rock” is another happy addition to this compilation.
House of Heroes performs “All I Want For Christmas Is You,” which I like much better than Mariah Carey’s version as well as “O Come, O Come Emmanuel.” The band does a satisfactory job on the difficult carol carefully vocals without getting too loud or too soft. While I don’t care for Ayiesha Woods, I’m sure that others will love her soulful interpretations of “Merry Christmas Baby” and “Jingle Bells.”
‘Tis The Season To Be Gotee is a good offering of what Gotee has to offer, but it’s really Relient K, House of Heroes, and Stephanie Smith that make this record shine brightly.
